Description: Registered Cultivar: In 1983 Lorna imported seed from Belgium to grow orange Clivia for the wholesale nursery market. One seedling flowered peach and this was kept by her. Over the years it was reproduced by offsets. The plant is a fan shaped clump 40-50cm high. Leaf width is 5-6cm and they are 45-50cm long. The umbel of golden peack tulip shaped blooms is 20cm wide and 10-12cm high, held on a scape 45cm high. Each tepal has a pinky-peach blotch on it. There are 15 - 18 blooms per head on average. Pedicels are 3-4cm long. Flowers are 5cm long and 3 - 3.5cm dia at mouth. Flower colour is Swatch 7 - 66/67/68, the blotch colour is Swatch 4 - 38. The plant doesn't self but crosses with other donor pollen. In 2012 Lorna sold the bulk of her collection of this clone and plants have been distributed to Queensland but the bulk of the material went to the upper Blue Mountains of NSW. Lorna named the plant as she is a Grandma that found Gold.

Lisa Mannion Lisa Mannion with Great Wide Yellow
Description:

Great Wide Yellows (GWY)
Lisa Mannion of New Zealand has concentrated on line breeding to produce yellows that have extra broad leaves. The original seeds used were obtained from Keith Hammett and were of Solomone origin. These have a tendency to be wider-leaved than usual. She selected out the widest leaves from the original seedlings and has continued to cross these to develop a line of plants. She considers it important to not only have wide leaves but also have a good form. which has been a further selection criterion – wide leaves, short in length with a good flower that she calls ‘The Great Wide Yellow’ (GWY).The name came in the form of a letter written by a collector of Clivia and advertising man Garry Murphie of Sydney, Australia, who wrote to her “in pursuit of The Great Wide Yellow”. He had heard that broad-leaf yellows were her specialty and wanted to buy seed. She loved the name and with his permission has labelled and marketed these plants.
She has her broad leaf yellows defined into GWY ‘Silver’ and GWY ‘Gold’, with only a very few warranting the title ‘Platinum’
